Where is Claire?

About Me

Hi, I'm Claire and honestly? I used to be the last person you'd expect to write a travel blog.

I grew up in a small town in southern Maine with 130 people in my graduating class. Same faces, same streets, same everything from kindergarten through senior year. And still — every single year, the night before the first day of school, I'd have a full-blown panic attack. Not because anything was actually changing. Just because it might.

That girl moved to San Diego alone after graduation. She became a travel ER nurse and spent years living in a new city every three months. She's been to 43+ US states and 11+ countries and has more checkmarks on her bucket list than blanks.

The difference? At some point I decided that fear of the unknown wasn't a reason to stay still, it was a sign I was about to do something worth doing.

Every choice that scared me is one I'd make again in a heartbeat like choosing the college that no one from my hometown had gone to before. The first cross-country move. The job that meant packing up every 90 days. Leaning into change became the thing I am best at and travel is the place I practice it most.

My friends and family have a running joke: "Where is Claire?" I figured I'd just start answering that question publicly.

This blog is for the person who has a list of places they want to go but keeps finding reasons to wait. I'm here to tell you it's not going to get easier, the timing is never going to be perfect, and "someday" is doing a lot of heavy lifting it can't actually deliver on.

You already know what's on your list. Let's start crossing things off.
